The Castlemen u18s back to winning ways

A penalty in added time from Sam Bright gave the Castlemen all three points against a good Felixstowe and Walton team who failed to take advantage from their numerous chances.

The home side had the better of the first half as Fram were finding it difficult to retain the ball, however keeper George Abel had another excellent game, his handling and shot stopping were spot on and kept the score to one nil to the home side at the break.

The home side's number nine Josh Lee was a constant threat receiving the ball from midfield and running at the visitors defence, Harper and Challis both had shots saved by Abel before Lee scored on 43 minutes. Running at the Fram defence the dangerous Doney created the chance for Lee to score with a low shot.

The managers made two telling substitutes after the break, Barrack and Peacher coming on, moving Owen Pearce up front and what a difference it made, Fram became more energetic, a better tempo and pushed the home defence throughout the second half.

Ethan Whittingstall had a shot saved before Harrison Tompkins had his shot blocked and the pressure paid off on 70 minutes. Ethan won the ball on the byline to feed Owen Pearce, and his powerful shot found its way into the top corner of the net for a deserved equaliser.

The home side looked dangerous going forward, however any shots were off target, and Abel was dealing with crosses with a safe pair of hands.

Owen had another chance, his low shot was blocked by the keeper, before Callum Knights, who had an excellent second half, lobbed the ball off the post from 20 yards.

With three minutes of added time on the clock, referee Butcher decided that Ethan had been upended by the keeper as he chased a loose ball and awarded a penalty, cool as you like captain Bright slotted the ball into the left hand corner with the keeper diving the other way.

If it was backs to the wall in the first half, the second half was a credit to the Fram side that battled against a strong side to secure the three points.
