A controversial late penalty gives Diss the win

A dubious penalty awarded to the visitors late in the second half denied the Castlemen a point against an experienced side that included ex Fram player Matt Aldis.

Fram fielded a side that included Charlie Coe for his first team debut and Oli Smith at right wing back. With several injuries to key players Mason Ransome took the number nine shirt and new signing Jack Lawrence played at ten. On a very sticky pitch Diss started well and from a free kick the ball was swung from wing to wing eventually ending up at the unmarked Matt Aldis who slotted in from close range in the second minute.

Harry Lay Fulcher had a busy time in goal throughout the match for Fram and made some fine saves including one in the 14th minute when he saved with his legs from the lively McIntosh. After twenty minutes Fram settled and came into the game more, Ransome shooting narrowly wide from a great Lawrence pass on 25 minutes. On the half hour mark the home side were level, a diagonal pass from Bell found Max Willett on the left and his first time volley flew past Macrae in the Diss goal to level the scores.

Diss were gaining a lot of free kicks both MacIntosh and Mackie shooting wide from the edge of the area however on 42 minutes Diss took the lead when Charlie Webb had a clear header from a corner to score past the keeper. Alex Ling found space just before half time but shot straight at the keeper, Ling then had the first chance of the second half shooting high and wide when through on goal.

The second half was fairly even, Wren's shot was deflected away from goal by the Diss keeper however on 71 minutes Fram got a deserved equaliser Willett again found the net, this time slotting in via a defender.

The game changed on 78 minutes when referee Baldock awarded Diss a penalty for a soft push in the area as the ball went high over the forwards head, Fuller scoring from the spot as Lay Fulcher got a hand to the low shot. Fram justifiably felt hard done to at the evenings decisions from the referee but the team gave it their all.
