A win and a clean sheet for the first team

A Jono Fryatt strike on 29 minutes was enough to secure the three points for an improving Fram side against a Haverhill side who are without a win in eight games.

Fram were indebted to some fine goalkeeping from Harry Lay Fulcher who saved from a Tom Rigby penalty on 40 minutes, Rigby’s day then got worse when he was sent off midway through the second half with two bookable offences within a minute to leave Borough to try and salvage the game with ten men.

The game began with a bang as visiting midfielder Ryan Kent drove an effort from 30 yards out after 30 seconds, only for Lay Fulcher to make a flying save. Fram started to create chances, Max Willett shot straight at keeper Griffiths and Danny Smith shot over the bar.

The deadlock was broken on 29 minutes after Lewis Bell initiated a fine move down the left before finding Danny Smith, his inch perfect pass was slid in by Fryatt for his sixth goal of the season.

Borough went forward and as the home side missed two tackles in midfield the ball fell to Tom Thulborn only to be brought down by the home keeper.

The young keeper redeemed himself by diving to his left to keep out the spot kick and Thulbourn then struck the underside of the bar with the follow up.

The second half started with Danny Smith dropping deep to orchestrate the home sides attacking, however Haverhill had a good spell of play and Harry Farrow, who recently joined on loan from Cambridge City had an effort which skimmed the bar before the same player was denied by another great block from Lay Fulcher when clean through.

Borough's momentum was curtailed after Rigby was dismissed and the dangerous Farrow was substituted. As the visitors pushed for an equaliser Fram’s defence held firm and it was at the other end where chances were missed, Fryatt, Willett and Smith all guilty however the Castlemen ended with a welcome three points to leapfrog Haverhill in the table.
